Aims
- Provide updates on developing non-native species issues. Key themes in 2008 were risk assessment and biological monitoring.
- Provide updates on ones to watch out for. Examples of species that are not yet, but have the potential to become, significant invasive species in the UK.
- Provide workshop sessions on the identification of key non-native species groups. Mammals, invertebrates and freshwater plants, with a taster of riparian plants and herptiles.
- Bring together a wide range of people to encourage discussion and share ideas.
The workshop seeks to support the objectives of the Invasive Non-native Species Framework Strategy for Great Britain

The workshop brought together 122 people rom local authorities, NGOs, industry, consultancies, government organisations, wildlife groups and others. Three workshop sessions and two stands were provided covering over 70 species with live and stuffed specimens, vouchers, skins, samples and audio / video material.
